Totham Lodge fits dad like a glove: the buildings remind him of his childhood and the world he knew. He comments frequently on the unfailing patience shown by the staff, to even the most fragile of residents. He feels free and welcome to pop in and chat to the manager at any time (which he does - often!). I am always reassured of the quality of care he receives whenever I speak to the staff or get to see them in person - they clearly know their residents well and are very attentive to their needs. And that's helped by how consistent the staff are: no forever-changing agency nurses coming and going, it's the same carers and managers over long periods of time; that gives Dad stability and consistency, which as his Alzheimer's gets worse becomes ever-more important. Totham Lodge leaves me free to enjoy the best of Dad, because I completely trust that his practical needs and the worst aspects of Alzheimer's are well taken care of by the caring staff.
